Silhouette Madness

Caitlin Moran via The Scoop

Ebay

I was recently captured by the gorgeous cluster of pictures by US based Interior Designer Caitlin Moran in the San Francisco Designer Showcase and in particular the silhouettes she used. Blog land has certainly been bombarded by posts about silhouettes over the last few months but I couldn't help but post this gorgeous piece which is currently available on Ebay which struck me as very similar to the look and feel of the room by Caitlin above.

I had a wall of silhouettes in my old apt. I purchased all of them on eBay. The one you mentioned is in NJ too!

I did a silhouette post today too :-)

I like the silhouettes, but more than that, I'm loving that wallpaper in the first picture!

Goregous! As a BBC/Regency addict I love the sihouette look, but hate that it's now a trend.

Great wall. I am a huge fan of silhouettes. And yes, you can find some great ones (like the one you've shown) on ebay...I'd love to have my own done someday.

When my daughter was in pre-school, I went in and cut silhouettes, which they loved. Scissors, Paper and
a steady profile are all you need! Encourage all to give it a go, so much fun! My mom has a silhouette of each of us on a charm bracelet, love it!

A friend just pointed me at your blog and I love your transitional styling. I'm working on my own home this winter and am wondering if you have advice or can point to guidance for creating those wonderful displays of art on a single wall. I've seen mixed palettes, frames, themes, etc and can't really discern a rule of thumb for making a large empty wall come to life, although I certainly do recognize a great arrangement when I see one. :-)

Don't you just love silhouettes? So classic!! I think we have done a couple silhouette posts already- I can't get enough of them!

Hi Kim, thanks for stopping by! There really are no rules with cluster installations - some people like to match all the frames but I personally like to keep them all a bit different. If you haven't hung a cluster installation before I would recommend that you hire a professional hanger to install your pictures. Hope this helps!

I so love silhouettes because it reminds me of cameos which I also love. When I went to Disneyland in LA, I made sure to get my silhouette cut out. There is a most amazing silhouette artist there on the main street of Disneyland who can cut out your profile on the spot just by looking at your profile with no drawing required. Amazing.

Anna,
i remember reading this post last month and then coming across some other silhouettes on ebay. you've inspired me to find my own silhouette from my mother (i know i have one) and also to write a post on my somewhat "new" blog. www.vintagemodernista.com

thanks!
